The End of March Madness

As March comes to a close so do the final steps of our remodeling. Yes, I know it is hard to believe but we have finally finished with the remodeling at the house. I posted the before and after pictures of the bathroom as well as a picture of the new backsplash in the kitchen. Everything turned out great and it is nice to finally be finished. Big thanks again go out to Orin for all his help. Oh and congrats to Orin on the new job! Hope your trip to Kansas City next week goes great. I'm not sure I will know what to do withot Orin at the house at least 2 or 3 days next week!

We had two baseball games this week, one on Thursday and one on Saturday. We won on Thursday and Zach played great. He hit a double and was really excited. Saturday was a little rougher, the boys all seemed to still be asleep. Zach got to play second base and he played really well. He struck out but hit two foul balls which was pretty good because the pitcher was throwing hard. It has been really fun being involved with the team this year. I like working with the boys and being able to be a part of that with Zach.

That pretty much sums up what is going on in our world this week. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! Oh, and leave me some comments darn it! :-)

Finished!

Happy Easter Everyone!

Wow! I know its hard to believe but portions of our house are finally finished! We put the final touches on the dining room last night and it is completely done. Can I just say I am so glad. It has been a lot of work, but the result is worth it. I posted a new final picture with all our stuff put back where it belongs. We just have touch up painting left in the bathroom, then it will be finished too. The plan is to finish that tonight, but I'm not sure if that plan is going to work out or not. Either way we should have everything done this week, except for the backsplash and there is a small debate going on about whether or not that is going to get done this week or not. I'll keep you posted about the results of that debate.

Today has been a great day. It actually started yesterday with egg dying after baseball practice. We wrapped up that session with ice cream from Braums. This morning we had some challenging Easter egg hunts and can I just say, Zach is much better at hiding them this year! We took in a movie this afternoon, Horton Hears a Who. It was ok, not as good as I expected. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd wait for the rental. After the movie we did more egg hunting and then had a confetti egg fight. All in all a very successful day and some great quality time together. Easter dinner is cooking right now: Ham, twice baked potatoes, homemade bread, salad, deviled eggs and chocolate cake for dessert. With all of that food the evening will probably be spent in sweatpants to allow for the expanding tummy! (Did I mention I plan to get back on track with going to the gym tomorrow??)

I hope your day has been spent enjoying time with family and friends. Our thoughts go out to all of you on this special day.

So Close

Yeah I know its been two weeks since I posted. We have been working furiously on remodeling our house. Things are starting to come back together and are looking great! I posted before and after pictures of our dining room and will do the same for our bathrooms hopefully later this week. Kudos again go out to Orin for all of his help. You rock man! For the record, here is everything we did in the dining room so far: Replaced linoleum with porcelin tile, painted, replaced all baseboards, painted, added a chair rail, painted, built new shelves in the pantry and laundry room, did I mention painted? We still have to put up the new faux wood blinds, switch plates (Wendy wanted me to mention that so you didn't think we just forgot them.) and curtains. It has been a lot of work, but the end result is worth it. At least thats what I keep telling myself! :-)

Other than that nothing much has been going on but work and baseball practice. We did go out Saturday night for an early St. Patrick's Day celebration since we are all responsible adults now and couldn't stay out all night drinking tonight.

Zach's first baseball game is Thursday night. Think happy thoughts for both of us!

Hope you enjoy the pics and hopefully I'll write again later this week.

And the Results Are In!

No this is not a blog about the elections. As some of you may know we have been working on some home improvement projects and we finished the first major one tonight. This would explain the long lapse between posts! We replaced three interior doors and our front door. Big, big, big thanks go out to Orin for helping us!

The front door proved to be a bit more challenging that we had thought. We live in an older house and a "standard" door in today's world isn't necessarily a "standard" door 30 years ago. But, we prevailed and fit the darn thing in! Some customizing was done, including adding a cedar framing and the result is it look fabulous. It even survived the first tornado warning of the season!

Our next project starts on Friday. This is remodeling the bathrooms / shower and potentially the dining room. The bathroom is getting new cabinets, fixtures, tile and paint. The dining room is getting new tile and paint job. If all goes well (cross your fingers please!) I will have pictures of that posted by next Monday.

Hope that everyone is doing fabulous.
