Golf!

Yes I actually went out and played this weekend! Despite a misty morning Orin and I decided to brave the course in El Reno. As it turned out it was a fabulous decision. It didn't actually rain but stayed cloudy so it was nice and cool for the entire 18 holes. On top of fabulous weather, I played my best game ever! I had five pars and scored a 99, which is the first time I broke 100. Orin didn't have his best game ever, but he played really well too. I won't post his score cause it would just embarass me since he is so much better! :-)

Our second fund raiser at Sonic netted about $600 again. I think we should have enough money for new uniforms in the spring now. We play in the post season tournament this week so that should be fun. After that baseball is over until September when the fall season starts. As much as I have enjoyed helping coach, I am ready for it to be over and I'm pretty sure Zach feels the same.

As promised before, here is the link for Larry's blog. He has some pictures and an interesting story on a military guy who suffered a broken back when he feel from the Great Wall, so go check it out.

Weekend Summary

Ok, so back to the rest of the weekend. After blowing stuff up Friday night we had to head out to Sonic early Saturday morning for a baseball fund raiser. Apparently this Sonic allows youth organizations to car hop on Saturdays for tips. So they get free labor and we get money for uniforms. We worked a two hour shift and all in all it wasn't too painful. We raised $600 and apparently the rest of the team thought it was much better than car washes because we are doing it again this Saturday. Zach thought that it was good training for him because then when he was old enough to work at Sonic they wouldn't have to teach him how to do it, he would already know.

After a quick afternoon nap we headed out for a night on the town. We picked up Zach's friend Seth and headed downtown for dinner and a show. We ate at Spaghetti Warehouse and then walked to the Myriad Gardens for Shakespeare in the Park. The show was The Three Musketeers and I have to say, for a community theater it was really good. Zach thought the part where two girls were fighting was really funny ("Now thats a girl fight!) and he said the rest was pretty good except for all the kissing.

Seth spent the night with us and we wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with a trip to the water park. All in all, a great weekend, it just went too fast. Hopefully all of you had a safe holiday weekend.

Cherish

Today has been an extremely rough day for Wendy. One of her friends that she grew up with passed away this morning. She had been suffering seizures for several years due to a brain injury and had a seizure last night that she never recovered from. This is one of those moments that you reflect on everything you have in your life and the things that are truly important. All of the sudden those dirty dishes in the sink don't seem so important when Zach wants to play pokemon or if it is family game night. I hope everyone who reads this takes a moment to contact an old friend or family member that you haven't spoken to in awhile just to let them know you are thinking about them. I know I'm not the best at calling but to all my family and friends, please know that you are in my thoughts each and every day and I love all of you. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Angela's family on this extremely difficult day.

Holiday Weekend

I have to say, whoever came up with the idea of blowing stuff up in order to celebrate our Independence Day was a genius! I love shooting off fireworks. When I was growing up we lived outside the city limits, so we got to do it right at our house every year. Since I moved away from home I haven't really had that chance until last year. Orin lives in Mustang, the only place in the metro area that allows you to shoot off fireworks. Orin moved, but still lives almost in Mustang, so he decided we could shoot them off at his house again this year. It was so much fun. We blasted firecrackers, tanks, chickens that poop colored sparks, roman candles, Excalibur (a series of big time fireworks) and a ton of other stuff. All I have to say is I can't wait to do it again next year!

I'll have to write about the rest of the weekend later. Its been kinda of a rough evening and I'm afraid I would just start complaining. Besides, Wendy leaves for two weeks tomorrow morning, so I want to go hang with her. Enjoy the new pics. See ya.

New Addition

Ok, so for those of you that don't already know, as of today we have a new four legged creature at our house. Her name is Emma Kate and she is pretty darn cute! She is a golden retriever from my niece's female. So far things are going good, but I will keep you posted on potty training and the likes.

We had our last regular season baseball game on Saturday. We played the Heat, the first place team in our division and we won. It was nice to finish the regular season with a win. We finished second place in our division, which is pretty good considering last year I think we finished in last place.

Sunday we went bowling. I think I was finally able to convince Zach he doesn't need the bumpers since he beat Wendy two of the three games we bowled.

If you like to read then I highly suggest all of Jon Krakauer's books (Into Thin Air, Into the Wild, Under the Banner of Heaven and Eiger Dreams). Under the Banner of heaven is a historical look at the history of Mormonism and was extremely interesting to me. Into the Wild was also turned into a movie, but I recommend you read the book first.

I am looking forward to the 4th. We are going to Orin's for a BBQ and to shoot fireworks. We went over there last year and had a great time. I think our display was the best in the neighborhood and we didn't even have to take anyone to the ER! Other weekend plans include a trip to the movie theater to see Wall E, car hopping at Sonic for two hours on Saturday to raise money for baseball uniforms, and potentially some rock climbing. I let you know how all that works out. :-)

Ok, I think that is all I have for now. Larry has started a blog which includes pictures from China, so if he doesn't mind I'll post his link up next time and you can check it out. See ya!
